Patrz prosto w oczy, Anna Bujak & Hubert Bujak, Art Gallery in Legnica

"I live in a world overloaded with images, yet at the same time I feel like there are still too few images, or that the "right" ones are missing. We run through galleries filled with paintings as if searching for an image that will be meaningful to us, as if we possess a vision of it in our imagination. We also scour the internet for answers to the most important questions about the meaning of life. Does this mean that we seek answers to our own fears in images and use them to fill the void? Is there a limit to saturation?" Hubert Bujak
The sheer number of images causes saturation. Yet everyone is frantically searching for them. Is there some benefit to feasting one's eyes on vision? Is it an instinctive act? Perhaps it's a matter of the need to be amazed. These reasons for interest are heterogeneous and indecisive. Anna Bujak and Hubert Bujak's exhibition explores various strategies for looking at the overabundance of images and drawing one's own conclusions from this overabundance. Absorbing them or rejecting them. Reworking them as needed or dismantling them. One of the starting points for the exhibition was mindless smartphone scrolling, allowing one to lose oneself in images that are easily accessible and endlessly generated on the internet not only by humans but also by artificial intelligence. |
